Sacksioni was born as the son of former Ajax player and former cigar shop owner Harry Sacksioni (1921–2018) and Rie van Etteger. Around the age of sixteen, he played in the youth teams and the second squad of AFC Ajax. Coach Rinus Michels told him he had to choose between top-level sports and playing the guitar. He became well-known in the 1970s for his acoustic guitar playing, which reached a wide audience largely through his collaboration with Herman van Veen. His compositions strongly appeal to the imagination of guitarists and others. Famous pieces include Meta Sequoia, Vensters, Elixer, Thee bij tante Josephine, Bello, and Paddentrek. The vast majority of his work consists of his own compositions, mainly instrumental. From his very first album (1975) onward, he accompanied his guitar compositions with other instruments, ranging from banjo, violin, or tuba to a band, orchestra, or even a crowd of car horns.
