The Reasoning was a British progressive‑rock band active for a decade before announcing their split. The group confirmed that they were disbanding on amicable terms, marking the end of their activities almost exactly three years after the disappearance of guitarist Owain Roberts, who went missing in Cardigan, Wales, and has not been seen since. In their official statement, the band reflected on their achievements and acknowledged that they had reached a natural endpoint creatively. They noted that, despite many rewarding experiences, there were also periods in which continuing as a band felt increasingly difficult. As the third anniversary of Roberts’ disappearance approached, the members felt it was the appropriate moment to bring the project to a close. The Reasoning expressed gratitude to their supporters and emphasized that, although the band was ending, their music would continue to live on through listeners. They also stressed that the decision was mutual and that the friendships within the group remained intact. While the band would no longer release music together, the individual members intended to continue their musical pursuits separately. In the period leading up to their dissolution, The Reasoning had postponed the release of their planned fifth album, Horrorscopic, and later cancelled a series of tour dates in October and November to continue work on the record. Over the course of their career, they released four studio albums, the most recent being Adventures in Neverland in 2012.
